Introduction

  • The dept. of Marathi has been Established in June-1972.
  • The erudite academic personality Prof. G.T.Patil, able headed the dept.
  • His research work in Drama was case in point.
  • His rich research tradition had been effectively continued by the the head of the dept. Dr.B.V.Game, is recognised fact.Now he is the Editor of 'Navanusthub'.
  • The dept. has been created many well-known litterateur, poets and professors.

1 Tradition of Excellent Teachers:
The Marathi Department of the college has a legacy of excellent teachers and it has set down a rich tradition and has produced a literary ambience in the college. Prof. A. H. Misal (First HoD), Prof G.T. Patil (The former HoD and the former editor of the well-known literary periodical, Anusthubh), Dr. Ramesh Warkhede (Renowned critic and Ex-director, Humanities, Y.C. M.O.U. Nashik), Dr. Vidyagauri Tilak (the former Head of the Department of Marathi, S. P. Pune University), Prof. Ramprasad Taur (S. R. T. M. University, Nanded), Prof. Anil Sonar (well-known Marathi novelist and dramatist), Principal Dr. Motiram Deshmukh (Principal, Arts, Science and Commerce College, Harsul, Nashik), Dr. Bhausaheb Game (the present HoD of Marathi and the Administrative Officer of Nav-Anusthubh), the Marathi literary periodical and Mr. Dhanraj Dhanagar (Editor of Uni-Research and Research Journey) have been the teachers of this department producing an outstanding tradition of a literary ambience.
2 Visits of the Literary Personalities and Thinkers :
The Department has received new directions and perpetual guidance of such outstanding personalities as Dnyanpeeth Awardees like V. V. Shirwadkar, Dr. Bhalchandra Nemade,  the poet, N. D. Mahanor, veteran thinker and critic, Narhar Kurundkar, the dramatist Vijay Tendulkar, the well known writers and poets Vyanktesh Madgulakar, Vasant Bapat, Uttam Kolgaokar, Ashok Kotwal, Dr. Eknath Pagar, Principal, Dr. Dilip Dhondge, Dr. Neela Pandhare, Dr. M. S. Pagare, the Government Officer and the peot, Devidas Chuadhari, the theatre personality, Atul Pethe. These and many more visited the college and guided our students.

The Department has produced writers like Sharad Aher, Pandit Gawali, Arjun Kokate, Sanjay Chaudhari, Dr. Dnyaneshwar Walhekar.

7 Contributions of the teachers from the Department towards the Marathi Periodical Anusthubh:
The Dept. of Marathi has been actively contributing in Anusthubh, an acclaimed Marathi periodical. Department of Marathi has been actively contributing to its progress, Prof. G. T. Patil the HoD of Marathi had been the editor, and he shouldered its administrative responsibility and also worked as the treasurer of the periodical from 1977 to 2004.  Later, from 2004 up to now Dr. Bahusaheb Game, the present HoD of Marathi has been looking after its administrative work.

  • -Seema Patodkar grabbed Dr. R. S. Valimbe Award being First in the University Merit List in the subject Poetics (1977)

    Best Practices

    • The Department of Marathi made efforts and published a Special Issue on the Problems of Draught in the Yeola Tehsil
    • The Department of Marathi organized various programmes inviting prominent speakers on special occasions like Teachers’ Day, World Aids Day, World Women’s Day etc.; it also organized various Contests for the students
    •  The Department of Marathi celebrates the Marathi Language Fortnight Celebration every year i.e., from 1 January to 15 January; prominent speakers are invited to deliver speeches during this period; besides, activities like Poetry Recital Programmes, Essay Competitions, Elocution Contests are also organized. 
    • 27th Feb is celebrated as Marathi Rajbhasha Din and Birthday of Marathi Poet Kusumagraj.
    • Students’ contribution in the college magazine Unmesh.

    Extention Services

    • Dr.B.V.Game guides the students which appeared for various competition exams. i.e. MPSC, UPSC, SSB etc.
    • Dr.B.V.Game was a member of Board of Studies in Marathi and he was also faculty member University of Pune since 2005to 2010..

    The Innovative Practices

    • Literary qualities of the students are searched out. They are inspired for creative writing. This helped them to bloom their creative abilities.
    • As a result of this many such creative authors as well as journalists like Pradip Gujrathi, Vishnu Thore, Balasaheb Chavan, Amol Khare, Devidas Chaudhari, Kamlakar Desale, Gautam Sancheti etc are mounded in the college.
