About the Library :

This Library came into existence in June 1970, (Established in Id. No. PU/NS/ASC/014/ 1970) with the establishment of Arts and Commerce College, Yeola, Nashik. The library was located on the Ground floor of the college building and the total carpet area of the library is 171.92 Sq. mts. it is at a central place on the campus like any conventional library. Library has good collections on different areas of knowledge, such as Languages and Literature, Social Sciences, Humanities, Commerce and Management etc. Library is administered by the Librarian Mr. A. P. Bagul with the assistance of library clerk, library attendants and library advisory committee.

Library Hours :

- On working Days: 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

- During Exams. 8.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Our library is continuously serving to the students, teaching and non-teaching staff of the college with following mission, vision and objectives

The mission of the Library is to provide comprehensive access to the resources and innovative services to support teaching, learning and research activities of the college and thereby to cater diverse information needs of user community of this college. The library strives to develop collection of information resources, and to adopt technologies to provide better information services.

Our vision is:

  • To promote the use of resources to help the users to achieve their educational and professional goals.
  • To offer personal assistance to select, organize and use the information.
  • To maintain healthy environment for the students to study.
  • To build collection complimentary for competitive exams to provide competitive edge to students.
  • To provide innovative services to the users.
  • To provide more and more access to the e-resources through Internet.
  • To make available reading material and other resources as per requirements of teaching faculty.
  • Provide orientation, user education and references service to the teachers and students in order to maximize the use of the library.

Library Advisory Committee:

A Library Advisory Committee has been constituted in order to ensure proper administration of the library. It consists of a Chairman (Principal), a student representative, a Secretary (Librarian) and other 4 members. LAC meets Once time a year to review the library related matters. The LAC has well defined objectives.

  • Library forms an integral part of an academic institution. A library committee has been constituted to facilitate effective and smooth functioning of the library.
  • The advisory committee meets One times in an academic year to take decisions about various issues related to library facilities, services and its execution for better functioning.

  • To formulate rules and regulations of the library.
  • To do annual planning and Annual Budget Provision.
  • To purchase essential books, journals etc. as required by HOD, teachers and students.
  • To make arrangement for proper storage of books.
  • To make improvement in safety, security and facilities.
  • To provide every possible support and guidance to the librarian.
  • To consider and put forward the views and ideas of faculty and students regarding selection and acquisition of library resources (i.e. books journals etc.) and other library services.
  • To ensure technological up gradation of the library.

2. Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the College.

Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff of the College have to apply on the plain paper. The application should be duly signed by the Principal of the college.

The college magazine includes detailed library information such as an annual report, membership, lending services, books and periodicals collection, competitive examination literature, library timing, library rules and regulations etc. With the help of magazine, students are fully acquainted with the library functions and services. It is found very much useful tool for student.

2. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Earn and Learn Scheme :

The practical work to be done by the students under this scheme is performe by the students under the scheme under the guidance of the student welfare officers and the librarian.

The Impact of the scheme :. This has improved the relationship between the library staff and the users in understanding the intricacies of services the library staff provide them.

3. Book exhibition :

Goal : The goal is to make awareness among the students on the latest books available in their subjects

The Process : Reputed book publishers and distributors are invited to display their recent books in the exhibition.

Impact of the Practice :Book selection process is possible for the faculty members and the students. Who are interested to buy books for their information needs.

Resources required : Sufficient space needs to be provided to the booksellers to exhibit their collections.

Our College has Arts & Commerce faculties. The journals of these faculties involving various subjects are available in the library. The advanced research and recent thoughts are viewed by the teachers and the students.

Library Software Book smith V2.1.Comprehensive Library Suite

Book Smith is Library management software development by Sant?ch systems which takes cares of all the activities associated with a Library Book Smith is totally integrated software encompassing all aspects of library management. Book Smith also provides the Library members a priceless tool to have access to the resources available within the Library. Whether he or she has have access to the Library resources. Book Smith is designed & developed by a team of library professionals and software engineers so as to totally and completely meet the various needs.

Book Smith is developed in visual basic 6 using SQL Server 7 as the backend. It is a multi user-friendly and easy to use software. This software uses the barcode technology for searching, issuing, and renewing books. Book Smith has a very effective password security feature being totally modular in design and approach. Book Smith is subdivided into the following basic functional models.

Accessioning :

Each book is given an Accession No. which can be said as its identification number, No two documents in the Library can have same Accession No. This unique number is then converted into the Barcode which will be put on the books. For easy front desk operations, Complete information about the book can be stored e.g. Title, Authors, Publishers, Suppliers, Donated about Language and many more the user interface is very easy to understand.

Reports:

Any number of reports can be generated through Book Smith. Some of the main reportsfrom each module are as follows.

The software is used for

-Searching books from OPAC for Staff and Students.

Library provides Online Public Access Catalogue facility to all the students and staff of the college. A Separate dedicated system has been made available at the entrance of the library for searching books from the catalogue. The OPAC provides various approaches for searching the books from the catalogue. Users can search books by surname of author, title, subject, publishers, and type of material etc. of the book. Apart from this students or faculty members can search books online from the computers.

- Issuing identity cards for students .

- Generating various reports for decision making and preparing budget for various departments.

Special Features:

Arrangement of Books:

Library is using Colon Classification (C.C.) Scheme (6th Edition) for classifying books. The books in the library are arranged subject-wise as per the broad class numbers in C.C. Textbooks are stacked separately as per the classes. Reference books are stacked in separate section.

Our library lends various reading materials such as textbooks, books, journals, Newspapers, CDs, question papers, syllabus etc. to our users. Students are given open access to the collection.

Apart from providing curriculum related materials, library furnishes its users with books on various Competitive Exams to provide competitive edge to its students.

For daily circulation of books to the students a books Issue-Return timetable is prepared and followed. For every student book can be issued on respective day of the week as mentioned in the timetable.

Apart from this, students are allowed to books on any day of the week if required for particular purpose (such as preparing project, presentations, tutorials, preparing for tests etc.) or during exams.

The library has collection of various reference books such as Encyclopaedias, Dictionaries, Yearbooks, and Geographical Information Sources such as Gazetteers, Biographical Sources etc. to satisfy reference queries of users.

C Newspaper Clipping Service:

Newspaper are the most Important news , events, organized by college, achievements of staff & students and other important information are collected from different newspaper and properly kept for reference.

D Information Display and Notice Service:

Under this service library periodically displays list of new arrivals, career-related articles information on the notice board of the library. File these articles is also maintained in library for reference.

E Internet Facility/ U.G.C. Network Resource Centre:

Our Library has established a UGC network and resource centre in which 01 PCs with broadband internet facility have been made available for information retrieval. Every student can access computer and internet facility for maximum one hour per day to satisfy his/ her academic needs. It also helps students and staff to search the information from the enormous resources available on internet. One laser printer has been provided to take printouts of article or information from the internet.

F Digital Identity Card Services:

Yearly about 1800 Identity cards are issued to Students by our Library Section.

G N-List Programme:

The Library has joined N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure forScholarly Content) Programme initiated by INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad. Under thisconsortium the faculty member can access to 6000 e-journals and 97000 e-books of various renowned publishers. Students are also involved in this programme.

H Power Back up Facility:

One Inverter (1 KVA) have been installed to provide backup to all computers in library and Network Resource Centre.
